Quick Wins – Quels changements pour une meilleure justice civile et pénale ? » La conférence du 6 mars 2026, consacrée à la question « Quels changements pour une meilleure justice civile et pénale ? », a été pensée comme un point de départ : celui d’une réflexion collective, ouverte et pluraliste sur l’avenir de la justice. Dans le prolongement de cette journée, l’Unité de droit judiciaire met à disposition cette plateforme afin de donner une visibilité durable aux propositions qui y ont été présentées, conformément à l’esprit de l’appel à contributions. Cette plateforme poursuit un double objectif : diffuser les contributions issues de la conférence, en les rendant librement accessibles; ouvrir un espace de dialogue, permettant à l’ensemble des acteurs concernés – magistrats, avocats, chercheurs, étudiants, mais aussi justiciables – de réagir, commenter et enrichir les propositions formulées. L’ambition est de prolonger les discussions engagées le 6 mars, en favorisant une réflexion continue, collective et sans cloisonnement sur les évolutions souhaitables de la justice. Parce que repenser la justice ne peut être l’affaire d’un seul acteur, cette plateforme se veut un lieu d’échange, de confrontation des idées et, peut-être, d’émergence de propositions nouvelles. Vous souhaitez vous aussi proposer un Quick Wins?  Envoyez nous votre proposition à cette adresse email : centrededroitprive@gmail.com   Il n’y a pas d’exigences formelles à cet égard.  Quick Wins : “Welke hervormingen zijn vereist om tot een efficiëntere burgerlijke en strafrechtelijke rechtspleging te komen?” De conferentie van 6 maart 2026, gewijd aan de vraag “Welke hervormingen zijn vereist om tot een efficiëntere burgerlijke en strafrechtelijke rechtspleging te komen?”, was opgevat als een vertrekpunt: dat van een collectieve, open en pluralistische reflectie over de toekomst van Justitie. In het verlengde van deze studiedag stelt de Eenheid voor Gerechtelijk Recht dit platform ter beschikking om de voorstellen die toen werden voorgesteld een duurzame zichtbaarheid te geven, geheel in de geest van de eerdere oproep tot het indienen van bijdragen. Dit platform heeft een tweeledig doel: enerzijds beoogt het de voortzetting van de gesprekken die op 6 maart werden gelanceerd, door een voortdurende, gezamenlijke en open reflectie te stimuleren over de wenselijke evoluties binnen de rechtsbedeling; anderzijds wil het een ruimte creëren waarin de bijdragen van de conferentie vrij toegankelijk worden gemaakt. Daarnaast opent dit platform een dialoogruimte waar alle betrokken actoren — magistraten, advocaten, onderzoekers, studenten en rechtzoekenden — kunnen reageren, opmerkingen kunnen formuleren en de geformuleerde voorstellen verder kunnen verrijken. Omdat de hervorming van het rechtssysteem nooit het werk kan zijn van één enkele actor, wil dit platform een plaats zijn voor uitwisseling, voor het toetsen van ideeën en, wie weet, voor het ontstaan van nieuwe pistes en voorstellen”. Les candidatures pour l’année 2026-2027 sont ouvertes. Une séance d’information est organisée le jeudi 19 février 2026 de 12h30 à 13h30 en hybride au FabLab et sur Teams. L’échéance pour le dépôt des candidatures est fixée au 25  février à midi.   The ULB is a member of the Pan-European Seal Traineeship Programme (Pan-European Seal). The Pan-European Seal is a comprehensive traineeship programme that bridges academia and the labour market in different fields (IP, law, finance, business, engineering, etc.) to promote and disseminate Intellectual Property among the Academic Community. It is promoted in partnership with two of the world’s largest IP offices, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante, Spain and the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich, Germany and their strategic University partners. This programme gives high-achieving, young university graduates access to a year-long (12 months) paid traineeship at either the EUIPO or the EPO, helping them get a foot in the door of the competitive world in a variety of fields through valuable, on-the-job, multicultural and professional work experience. Within the context of the ongoing fight against high levels of youth unemployment in Europe and the commitment thereof to social responsibility, the Pan-European Seal will offer traineeship posts every year to graduates of their university partners, administered by both of the abovementioned offices. The number of posts offered is determined on an annual basis. Application and selection of ULB prospective students is organized at JurisLab – FabLab ULB. Buiding upon prior findings from the IPSAM project, this research aims at studying the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies on the central role given to human perception under Intellectual Property (IP) laws anthropocentric framework.   The central research question is whether AI will drive harmonisation of IP similarities, replacing the uncertainty under current case law by machine-made rules that are not faithful to the law, hence untrue. The research focuses on the similarity assessment that must be performed according to EU trademark law, design law, and copyright law (patent law will not be covered). In the frame of this research project, an interdisciplinary team consisting of an IP expert (the Principal Investigator – PI) and a postdoc researches in AI engineering, AI law and Cognitive psychology, will verify empirically whether the development and use of those tools can embed and abide by the judge-made rules for assessing IP similarities. Empirical findings will be collected through four Working Packages (WP) dedicated to the engineering of AI-powered IP similarity assessment tools (WP1), the transparency and explainability of such tools (WP2), the automations biases in their use (WP3), and the challenged they pose to the anthropocentric approach of similarity assessment in IP laws (WP4). Results of this research are expected to fill gaps in the state of the art in an entirely innovative way and to explore new avenues in IP theory and algorithmic regulation.   More info soon.
